Fill out the guided notes on the second worksheet and fill out the chart with a picture that correlates to each season.
Print out the template for the church year game linked in the button below. Once again, make sure you turn off the double sided setting in your printing settings.
Glue the worksheets from the previous activity onto either side of a file folder.
Color the columns of the game template with the color that is labeled at the top of the page.
Cut along the solid black lines, and sort the rectangles by color.
One the other side of your file folder, make a patternized path using the colored rectangles. Once you have created the path for your game board, glue them down. Make sure to put the start and end circles on your board as well.
Next, we will make the spinner. Start by cutting out the spinner pieces and gluing them onto a piece of cardstock.
Cut out the spinner pieces one last time.
Poke a hole in the center of the spinner and insert a brad into the hole. Leave a gap between the brad and the spinner when you push down the sides of the brad.
Attach a paperclip to the brad in the center of the spinner.
Put a piece of double sided tape in the center of the paperclip.
Place the arrow on top of the tape, as shown below.
Click on the third tab underneath the materials list to learn how to play the church year board game.
To begin, each player will choose a character and place it at the start spot on the game board. Players will take turns spinning the spinner on their turn. The number that the spinner lands on is equal to the number of spaces the character should be moved. Players should say aloud the season of the church year that corresponds with the color they landed on. If a player lands on a black space, they can spin again. My class decided to make a bridge using the black squares as well. The first person to make it to the end spot wins.
